New South Wales Parrying Shield-Aboriginal Art-Oceanic Art
Here is a beautiful Aboriginal parrying shield from New South Wales I recently acquired from my ads in the New York Times. The vendor’s father was a collector in Australia in the 1950/60s. This is a fine example with concentric diamond designs carved in a sturdy hardwood. The shield shows signs of wear and use, dates to the early 20th century or before, is 32 ¼” (81.9cm) in height.
