Western Australian Bullroarer-Aboriginal Art-Oceanic Tribal Art
There is a hole at the bottom of this Western Desert Australia wooden churinga so I guess theoretically it is also a bullroarer. The design is a sophisticated combination of interlocking bars with opposingly slanted parallel grooves. The surface is an aged chocolate brown. The reverse shows beautiful adze marks. The piece dates to the late 19th/early 20th century, comes from a private Texas collection, stands 26 ½” (67.2 cm) in height.
